In March 2024 I quit my lawyer job at a prestigious international law firm to write a science fiction novel.
People had questions.
My family wondered if I’d lost my mind. Friends assumed I was on sabbatical, or retiring early, or becoming a stay-at-home mom. (I did none of those things.) The capitalist voice in my head kept reminding me that what I was doing had no economic value and might never have any.
I did it anyway.
Seven months later, I typed the last word of a 100,167-word first draft. It has a beginning, middle, and end. That’s all I can promise about the quality—but it’s more than I had when I started.
Write On Track is where I write about what happens when you blow up your sensible career to chase something that might not work.
I have ADHD. I have a toddler. I have years of lawyerly habits I’m trying to repurpose for creative work (turns out obsessive time-tracking is actually useful when you’re not billing clients). I share the strategies that help me write, the craft lessons I’m learning, the tools I’ve found, and the occasional poem or personal essay when the mood strikes.
I publish once or twice a month. No fluff, no filler—just what’s actually happening and what I’m actually learning.
If you’re thinking about making your own leap, or you’re already mid-leap and could use some company, subscribe. Let’s figure this out together.
P.S. Have questions or just want to say hi? Don't hesitate to reach out. I love hearing from readers and fellow writers.
